1) A New World

I’ve only been on the job for six weeks and it feels like it has been half a year. Although I’m an experienced representative and know parliament, legal procedures, and more like the back of my hand, the work of a ministry is something totally different. It starts with being a part of a larger network. A well-oiled machine with about 1,000 people, working collaboratively in the most diverse of ways. Because of this, the great challenge of the first days of the year was to get to know everything: the building, the processes, the people, the places.

Furnishing my room is also a part of this, it’s supposed to be my professional home for the next few years after all! Two things in particular had to move into my new office with me: colors and chocolate. Colors naturally belong considering that I’m part of a ministry for children’s rights, and chocolate simply makes you happy! Who’s going to contradict me there?
